Antony Vo was a college kid when January 6 changed his life. FACT: Antony was a student at Indiana University in Bloomington. On Jan. 6, 2021 he traveled to Washington for the 'Stop the Steal' rally. (Indiana Daily Student) FACT: His only conviction was a misdemeanor — parading, demonstrating or picketing in a Capitol building. No violence, no weapon. He was found guilty in September 2023 and sentenced to nine months. (Indiana Daily Student; DOJ) THEIR ACCOUNT: Facing prison, Antony left the country and sought asylum in Canada, where he was detained for about three weeks. FACT: On Jan. 20, 2025, President Trump granted clemency to J6 defendants. Antony's case was dismissed and his conviction vacated. He came home to Indiana — welcomed, in one classmate's words, like 'a legend.' (Indiana Daily Student; IUSTV) A young man who went to a rally, caught a misdemeanor, and finally got to go home.
