Christopher Carnell was just 18 years old — a teenager from North Carolina — on January 6, 2021. He traveled from North Carolina to Washington, D.C. to attend the rally at the Ellipse, then walked to the Capitol. He was a non-violent entrant; prosecutors did not accuse him of harming anyone. He was still a kid, really, caught up in the biggest political day of his young life. The legal fight: Christopher Carnell was arrested in March 2023, more than two years later, and in February 2024 was found guilty of obstruction of an official proceeding and related misdemeanors. His attorneys argued he was a nonviolent participant who deserved relief. On January 20, 2025, President Trump granted clemency to January 6 defendants, bringing his case to a close. A North Carolina teenager who went to a rally and is now trying to build his adult life — that's the person behind this file. Case record: United States v. Christopher Carnell, U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia. Arrested March 2, 2023. This profile is unclaimed. If this is you — or your family — claiming it is free, forever.
