Christopher Maurer is a Biddeford, Maine man who wore his country's uniform before his January 6 case made statewide headlines. FACT: Maine Public reported that Christopher Maurer was enlisted in the U.S. Marines. He was 45 and living in Biddeford when the FBI arrested him in February 2023. FACT: He pleaded guilty in July 2024 to assaulting, resisting, or impeding officers with a deadly or dangerous weapon, stemming from the fighting at the Capitol's Lower West Terrace tunnel on January 6, 2021. In November 2024 he was sentenced to 50 months in prison, 24 months of supervised release, and $2,000 in restitution. By then he had already spent nearly two years in custody awaiting the outcome. FACT: On January 20, 2025, President Trump's clemency proclamation for January 6 defendants ended the sentence — Christopher Maurer went home to Maine a free man, pardoned. CASE RECORD Court: U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia Arrested February 2023. Guilty plea July 2024. Sentenced November 2024 to 50 months. Pardoned January 20, 2025.
