Before any of this, St. Louis knew Daniel Donnelly Jr. by another name: 'Rally Runner.' THEIR ACCOUNT / FACT: A die-hard St. Louis Cardinals superfan, Donnelly became a ballpark legend — face painted red, sprinting laps to fire up the crowd. It started as pure love of the team and grew into a local following. (Sources: St. Louis Post-Dispatch; First Alert 4.) FACT: On January 6, 2021, Donnelly was at the Capitol, including near the Lower West Terrace tunnel. He was arrested August 2, 2023. In March 2024 he pleaded guilty to a felony count of obstruction of law enforcement during a civil disorder and was sentenced to 10 months. (Sources: NBC News; First Alert 4.) NEEDS AUTHENTICATION: A guest on a national cable show once floated the theory that Donnelly was a government 'agent' — a claim that drew wide attention and that both Donnelly and reporting disputed. (Source: Forbes.) FACT: On January 20, 2025, President Trump granted clemency to January 6 defendants. (Source: PBS NewsHour.) The charge is on the record below. So is the man St. Louis actually knew — the guy in red paint who ran his heart out to make a stadium cheer. THE CASE RECORD: Case No. 23-mj-189, U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia.
