Edward Amyot is a Michigan man from St. Clair Township and a grassroots conservative who served on the Michigan Republican Party's state committee and interned for a Michigan state representative. Edward Amyot didn't just watch politics — he rolled up his sleeves and did the work, serving on his state party committee and putting in time in the Michigan legislature. That is civic engagement at the ground level. On January 6, 2021, Amyot was on the Capitol's West Lawn. Charges are charges: he faced federal misdemeanor counts related to being on restricted Capitol grounds, and was released on an unsecured bond after his initial appearance in Detroit. His was a misdemeanor-level case, not one of the violent-offense prosecutions. On January 20, 2025, President Trump granted clemency to January 6 defendants — clemency that reached misdemeanor cases like Edward Amyot's. CASE RECORD: Federal January 6 case, U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia; initial appearance held in U.S. District Court in Detroit, Michigan. Charges announced November 2023.
