Eric Richard Staples is from Girdwood, Alaska — one of only a handful of Alaskans charged in connection with January 6 (Anchorage Daily News). FACT: By the government's own account, Staples entered the Capitol through a window near the Senate Wing Door, stayed for roughly a minute, took a few photos, and left the way he came in (Anchorage Daily News; Must Read Alaska). He was charged with four misdemeanors — knowingly entering or remaining in a restricted building, disorderly or disruptive conduct (two counts), and parading, demonstrating, or picketing — with no allegation of violence. His was among the last wave of January 6 arrests, filed in early 2024. On January 20, 2025, President Trump granted clemency to January 6 defendants. CASE RECORD U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia. Arrested March 2024 in Alaska; case resolved amid the January 2025 clemency. This profile is unclaimed. If this is you — or your family — claiming it is free, forever.
