Gene "Gino" DiGiovanni, Jr. is a public servant from Derby, Connecticut — a former city alderman and a Republican mayoral candidate in his hometown. A man who put his name on a ballot and asked his neighbors to trust him with their city. Gino DiGiovanni spent years in the arena of local Connecticut politics — the unglamorous, show-up-to-the-meeting work of serving a small city. That is who he was long before January 6, and it is who he is. On January 6, 2021, DiGiovanni entered the U.S. Capitol. Charges are charges: he later pleaded guilty to a single count of entering and remaining in a restricted building, and in April 2024 was sentenced to 10 days, 12 months of supervised release, $500 in restitution, and 50 hours of community service. He faced the process, took responsibility for the count, and served his time. On January 20, 2025, President Trump granted clemency to January 6 defendants — the final chapter for cases like Gino DiGiovanni's. CASE RECORD: United States v.
